Dumplings
No. 2
(Drop Dumplings)
2 Cups Flour
1 teaspoonful salt
4 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 egg
3 tablespoons melted shortening
Milk
Sift together the dry
ingredients.
Add well beaten egg, the melted shortening and enough milk to make a
fairly moist
stiff batter.
Drop by spoonfuls into boiling liquid. Cover very closely and cook
for 18 minutes.
Do not remove cover while the dumplings are cooking or they will be heavy.
