"Laureston E. Ames, born in 1839 at Nantucket, is also a son of Cephas I. and grandson of Isaac Ames. His mother was Rhoda H., daughter of Samuel Nickerson. He was at sea from 1851 to 1869. He came to Buzzards Bay in 1873, where he has been engaged with the Old Colony Railroad Company since that time. He was married in 1860 to Ann Herring. Their children are Elmer E., Cephas E., and Geneva E. One daughter died."
