May 2006 - Democrat
JOHN H. KIDNEY [Henry, Peter, Peter, Robert Isaac, John/Jan], a civil war veteran in the State Soldiers' Home in Noroton, Connecticut, made a vow in 1896 that he would not cut his hair until a Democrat was elected President. Monday he appeared, minus the long, flowing locks that had been growing for thirteen years. He said he had given up all hopes.
When out for a walk yesterday at dusk he was run down by a vehicle and injured about the head. He said he was sure the accident was due to his cutting his hair and breaking his vow.
