Street, Dundee, Parish of Mains, Scotland.
The fourth born child of John Guthrie Bowman and Mary Ann
Hogg.
Married Jessie McIntosh Robertson on
2nd June 1902 at the Woods Rooms,
United Church of Scotland, District St. Clement, Dundee.

Jessie was the daughter of Thomas Robertson and Elizabeth
Reid Maxwell.
The entire Robertson family worked at the Robertson
and Orchar Flax
machinery factory which was owned by Thomas
Robertson's uncle who
was the Lord Provost of Dundee.
Children: Elizabeth Robertson Bowman,
b. 28th April 1903, at 11:00 a.m. at
48 Cleghorn Street, Dundee, Scotland.
Occupation: Grocer and Spirit Dealer.
Widow Jessie Robertson Bowman, a violin
teacher, and daughter Elizabeth moved to London, along
with other members of the Robertson family. Daughter
Elizabeth R. Bowman married Thomas Dryden Grassing on the
26th July 1930 at St. Marks Church, Harlesden, Middlesex,
London and died two years later from birth complications.

1915, Vernon, British Columbia, Canada. Next of kin
listed as: John Bowman of 9 Elgin Street; Sister-in-law
Mrs. W. Gill (Cecial Hogg Bowman) of Haileybury, Ontario,
Canada; and his daughter Miss L. (Lizzie) Bowman of
Montrose, Scotland.
Training: Cookery Course, Aldershot, England 4
April 1916.
Foreign Service: France. Departure 10th August
1916.
Killed in Action: 11 November 1916 - Belgium
whilst fighting for the 47th Battalion British
Columbia Regiment.
Memorial: Name is commemorated on the Vimy
Memorial, near Calais, France. This memorial is
mainly for those Canadian Soldiers who died at Vimy
Ridge, France which happened almost a year later.
